Hi and thanks for checking out my profile! My name is Rachel and I've been a high school mathematics teacher for 7 years, specializing in Geometry and Statistic. I have been a state qualifying cross country coach, freshman mentor, tutor, ACT Prep instructor, and Junior/Senior class sponsor. My undergraduate degree (BS in Chemistry) is from the University of Tampa, and my graduate degree is from National-Louis University (MAT - specializing in secondary math and science education with a middle school endorsement). I worked as a cosmetic chemist for TreSemme prior to earning my teaching certificate. It didn't take long to learn that students are a lot more interesting and fun to work with than swatches of hair and batches of shampoo :) Not only do I love to teach, but I love to run, cook (and eat!), and I'm an avid scuba diver who loves to dive with sharks!
I teach at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, MN. I am a former middle school teacher in the St Paul Public Schools. B.A. in Mathematics, Boston University, 1992 M.A. in Education, University of Michigan, 1994 Ph.D. in Mathematics Education, Michigan State University, 2005
Hello everyone! I am Amanda and I am an Academic Coordinator at Sophia. I absolutely love working with such a great company! I graduated from St. Cloud State University in 2007 with a degree in Secondary Science Education. Prior to graduation I lived in Costa Rica for the summer doing research on dolphins! I taught middle school science for a few years after graduation and then took my teaching expertise to China to teach English for six months. After my arrival home from China I began working with Sophia in the fall of 2011. I enjoy all things science related especially environmental sciences and genetics. In my free time I love traveling! I also enjoy being outdoors, reading and spending time with family and friends. Life is good :)
