I am a graduate from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2003. My degree was in Biochemistry, and minored in Microbiology. Currently I've been working at General Mills in the area of Food Science since 2007, which has been great. I think its hilarious that i didn't know that food science existed while i was in college. But it turns out Food can be pretty scientific :). Although my education has been technical for the most part, i have always had a main passion for writing and expressing ideas. Creative writing and reflections are a frequent hobbies of mine.
After teaching Secondary English for eight years, I decided to pursue a career in virtual education and curriculum writing in order to stay home with my son, Nate. I am a wife, mother of two young boys, teacher, lifelong learner, and lover of our language. I love technology and what it can do for academics and everyday advantages. I have taught English and language arts classes for eight years - six in Minnesota and two in California. I have my BA from Concordia College, my M. Ed from Grand Canyon University and am starting my Ed. Specialist in Leadership this fall. I have an addiction to school:)

I'm the Founder and co-creator of Sophia and I love to create new things. I have a deep passion for education and technology, and I spend a lot of time thinking about how they could come together more effectively. I earned my bachelor's degree in U.S. History from the University of Wisconsin and my MBA from the University of Minnesota. I'm also the proud father of three daughters who give me a lot of great feedback on how to improve Sophia. I hope you'll send me your thoughts and ideas about Sophia. You can also feel free to share your thoughts on education, technology, American history (my personal passions are presidential and immigration history), music, songwriting, or baseball. I’d love to hear from you. - Don
