My name is Rebecca Oberg and I'm an English teacher (9th grade and Journalism) in Minneapolis specializing in the use of 21st century learning in the modern English/Language Arts classroom. Before teaching I attended the University of Minnesota, where I graduated Summa cum Laude with a BA in English Literature and Composition with minors in Geography and European Studies. I continued at the U of M, where I received my Masters of Education and licensure to teach English Communication Arts and Literature for grades 5-12. I have worked in urban and suburban schools, as well as with various other programs including Upward Bound. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy playing with my cocker spaniel dog Maggie as well as traveling, reading, learning Greek, and being an aunt to my two adorable nephews!
My name is Tyler Jensen and I am a student at Augsburg college. My major is Secondary Education with an emphasis in English. I graduate spring of 2012. I play football for Augsburg as well. I spend most of my time traveling, reading, writing and hanging out with friends and family when I'm not in class.
I have worked in education--in a variety of capacities--in Baltimore city since 1995, when I completed my undergraduate degree (BA) in English from St. Mary's College of Maryland. Currently, I am a contracted project manager for an educational publishing affiliate and a seasonal adjunct professor at the University of Baltimore, where I just completed my second master's degree (MFA) in Creative Writing & Publishing Arts. I am passionate about instruction that leverages multi-media and social media, in addition to more traditional instruction methods. I am fascinated by the differences in pedagogical imperatives, and love to deconstruct the various schools of thought on English Language Arts instruction, in particular. I am a poet, a youtube junkie, and lover of hazelnut coffee. Sophia Learning is one of the most exciting education platforms I've been exposed to, and I'm anxious to learn more and to contribute to the best of my ability.
