Creative, energetic, and organized are three adjectives that best describe my teaching method. As a teacher, it is my goal to reach all of my students by engaging them in as many different learning experiences as possible. My current online teaching position has given me the skills necessary to fully implement 21st century technology in my classroom. I utilize blogs, wikis, social media, Twitter and other web 2.0 applications on a daily basis. I have taught a variety of English classes throughout my teaching career including: 7th grade reading, high school reading, 9th grade literature, 10th grade literature, American literature, world literature, advanced world literature, publications, speech, composition and research, and college composition. I also have had the opportunity to author curriculum for several successful online classes including: Native American Literature, English 12, and Media & Society. Teaching and creating such a large variety of classes has given me a very extensive knowledge base and has taught me to be extremely open-minded and flexible when working with students at different levels. My passion lies in instructional design & technology. I love analyzing, developing, designing, implementing, and evaluating new curriculum. I am fully trained in using a variety of learning management systems including: Moodle, Blackboard, and eclassroom. I have created and taught successful classes from the ground up. For the past 20 years, I have been engaged as an educational researcher, evaluator and professor of educational policy. Areas of expertise include education reform, policy implementation and effectiveness, post-secondary attainment and socio-economic disadvantage. My publications address the social institutions and policies designed to promote educational advancement for students, especially the socially disadvantaged. Teaching and research associations over the past 20 years include the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign, University of Minnesota and Stanford University. I hold a Ph. D. and M.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a B.A. from Lawrence University.
