Dr. Don Gottwald is a Core Faculty with responsibility for the specializations in project management at the masters and doctoral level. He has a strong background in technology, management, and education and is certified in project management and computing. Prior to his work with Capella, Dr. Gottwald was affiliated with a college in Michigan for 17 years as professor in business information technology, director of the masters program in business information technology, and as chair of computer information systems and quantitative methods. Among Dr. Gottwald’s academic accomplishments, he designed and implemented a masters program in Business Information Technology with specializations in Information Assurance and Project Management. Additionally, he has developed curriculum and courses for delivery online and in the classroom.

Between his academic work, Dr. Gottwald had consulting assignments with various organizations. His experience encompasses Enterprise Resource Planning systems, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, Business Process Management, Technical Project Management and Leadership, and Network Architecture and Information Systems Security, as well as international operations and marketing.

His primary research interests include project Leadership Practices that provide Extraordinary Results; project initiation practices vs. strategic intent; communication and leadership aspects for determining optimum team composition in virtual situations.
